Capstan Station Integration Plan
Series of project information panels for pop-up engagement and intercept interviews.
Richmond’s Capstan Village is a new emerging master planned neighbourhood focussed on young families and the city’s creative community. With the rapid increase of residential dwellings and the construction of a new Skytrain station, the City of Richmond has contracted DIALOG to research ways to integrate the new station and the neighbourhood’s other public spaces to build a sense of community and place. The Capstan Station Integration Plan is a public realm design exercise understanding how the city might program or activate the space through public art, markets or vendors, or seating design.
As part of this project, I have coordinated the public engagement component seeking to understand community interest in how to activate the future Skytrain station and neighbouring public spaces. This work includes analysis of the socio-demographic make-up of the city and nearby areas as well as pop-up stations, intercept surveys, and observational studies. The engagement asks the public, “how could make Capstan Station feel like a neighbourhood hub?”
