Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto Strategic Plan

The Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto (MOCA) developed a strategic plan to guide their growth from 2021 to 2026. At the time of strategic planning, the world was experiencing the first waves of the COVID-19 pandemic. More so, thousands of children across the world marched for climate action and protests surged for racial justice in the United States. This context fueled MOCA’s strategic plan questioning the role of art, art institutions, and museums in the face of a changing world. PROCESS was contracted to facilitate the planning process that articulated a new vision, mission, and values that reflect the issues of today while tackling the granular institutional challenges of museum. The planning process included internal workshops, external focus groups and interviews, and surveying.

My role in this project was the design the public and industry surveys as well as analyze and report on the data. The findings from the surveys were integral in shaping organizational priorities as well as articulating MOCA’s public and civic functions as an institution. I further help draft final strategic plan content including the vision, mission, values, and action planning.

Note: In addition to the MOCA Strategic Plan, I have also helped developed strategic plans for The Robert McLaughlin Gallery, the Museum of Dufferin, and the Ontario Arts Council (ongoing).
