Commemoration Framework Review and Dundas Street Renaming
The City of Toronto conducted a recognition review process to revise the way the municipality commemorates historical and cultural figures. This includes a process to rename Dundas Street. The major arterial road commemorates Henry Dundas; a politican who played a role in delaying the abolition of the trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. PROCESS was contracted to lead facilitation and process design for the Community Advisory Committee as part of the renaming process.
I was the primary coordinator supporting facilitation of Community Advisory Committee and process design for the recognition review. Throughout the work, PROCESS has prioritized empathic and creative decision-making by embedding opportunities for knowledge sharing, co-learning and arts-based facilitation methods.
